Madalena Orquídea Living

MADALENA ORQUÍDEA LIVING IS A GREAT PLACE TO STAY, AMID THE ENCHANTING SIGHTS AND SOUNDS TO BE EXPLORED AND EXPERIENCED AT EVERY TURN
You feel it when the Tagus River is bathed in light and buildings and historic monuments are cloaked in golden warmth. You feel it in the streets that meander through the city, in the beauty revealed round every corner, in the delights of the local cuisine, and in the Lisbon lifestyle.

Madalena Orquídea Living – a set of apartments in a restored Pombaline building – wholeheartedly embraces the grace and lifestyle of Lisbon.
The Pombaline architecture of our apartment block marks the period of reconstruction in Lisbon following the Great Earthquake of 1755. These historical designs lend a sense of harmony to the Madalena Orquídea Living contemporary art collection.
Located in the Baixa Pombalina area of downtown Lisbon, Madalena Orquídea Living is very close to city landmarks, such as the Praça do Rossio, or the illuminated Terreiro do Paço that opens on to the Tagus River. The bustling excitement of Chiado is a ten-minutes walk away, as are the Ribeira Market and the recently revamped Campo das Cebolas in keeping with its prime location on the banks of the Tagus River.

Each floor is slightly different to the others, in keeping with the original architectural design of the building, so that no two apartments are alike.
The original wooden-frame reinforcements known as Pombaline cages were adopted in local architecture after the Great Earthquake of 1755 to minimize movement during possible future seismic activity. Sections of these structures have been exposed in shared living spaces in all of the apartments.

The ample windows through which sunlight bathes the apartments on the lower floors become simple geometric shapes and spaces on the higher floors that open up to beautiful panoramic views, while terraces and wrought iron railings complement these architectural variations.

Some of the original antique wooden salting chests and stone niches were restored. Hundreds of recovered old ceramic tiles were transformed into the large panels that adorn the corridor walls.
